Naamkarann actor Viraf Patel looked beyond the unexpected to get into a new phase in life!! While his family, near and dear ones planned a big fat wedding for him and his girl Saloni Khanna, Viraf and Saloni felt wise to get married in a simple manner, and move on to the bigger things in life as a couple!!

Viraf and Saloni got married on 6 May at the Bandra Court, with their families watching the court marriage live on video calls.

Says Viraf, “Thank you for your wishes. Yes, it feels good to be married. We were trying to get married since the first lockdown. In the beginning of 2021, we decided to apply for a marriage application. Earlier, we had plans of having all the rituals and having a grand wedding. With the second Covid wave being in full swing, we eliminated all the rituals possible. We decided that we will not have our families coming over for the wedding too. Life must go on, and there will always be a time when we can go ahead and celebrate this moment. So with this thought, we decided to marry.”

Saloni is from Delhi and Viraf is from Pune. The wedding happened with nobody from their families being around. “Three witnesses were arranged. Thanks to our friends and their antibodies, they came in as witnesses for the wedding. Saloni borrowed sarees from her friends. She finalized one of them, in spite of doing a huge gala shopping for the wedding in Delhi. We did not want to risk getting the commodities sent through courier. I picked up a suit which was 7-8 years old. With the lockdown regime, I fit well into it and that was it. Our wedding attires were sorted.”

On the basic thought that prevailed in Viraf and Saloni just before the wedding, “Viraf explains, “It was more important for us that our families stayed healthy and fine. We had to make a choice, either call families for the wedding or keep them healthy. Saloni has her grandmother living with her parents. Even though her father has just recovered from Covid, we did not find it to be a good idea for them to travel. Yes, both our families were extremely disappointed at not making it to the wedding. It was heartbreaking. But all said and done, we did exactly what was expected in the times we are in.”

Viraf states, “We are gratified today that we both are married, and are safe. We have had some close members fighting their Covid battles, and we are happy that they have recovered. As for us, we start our life in a new way. That’s the way we look at our marriage and life ahead. Celebrations will happen when the time calls for it. Now, we have to rely on prayers and hope that we tackle the second Covid wave with confidence.”

Wish you a very happy married life, Viraf and Saloni!!
