Gudi Padwa is one of the auspicious days of the year. The festival derives its name from two words ‘gudi’ which is the flag of Lord Brahma and ‘padwa’ which signifies the first day of the phase of the moon.

The festival signals the onset of the warmer days and the spring season. It is known by various names in different parts of the country, such as Ugadi in Kannada or Naba Barsha in West Bengal.

On this special day, we got candid with Poorva Gokhale, who plays the role of Anupriya from Zee TV’s Tujhse Hai Raabta, “Gudi Padwa has always been special for me as it is the celebration of the First Day in the lunar year of the Hindu calendar. It also marks the celebration of good over evil since Ram Ji returned to Ayodhya after defeating Ravana and living for 14 years in the forest. So to celebrate goodness we tie a flag outside the house as a symbol of positivity. We pray the idol made of Kalash, tulsi, Saari, and jewelry to celebrate the beginning of the new year. Usually, it is an off for everyone so we celebrate at home by making sweets and traditional food.”
