Zee TV’s show Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan continues to captivate viewers with its high-voltage drama and intense family dynamics. At the heart of the ongoing conflict are Durgavati and Sneha, who find themselves constantly at loggerheads due to their starkly opposing personalities and clashing ideologies. The entry of Durgavati’s mother, Bhavani Devi, has acted as a crucial catalyst in reshaping their relationship and potentially bringing about a much-needed patch-up.

Bhavani Devi stands out as the only person who possesses the authority and strength to handle the fiercely dominant Durgavati. She is the sole character capable of holding up a mirror to her daughter and delivering an unvarnished reality check about what is right and wrong.

Veteran actress Meenakshi Verma, who has stepped into the powerful shoes of Bhavani Devi, shared insights into taking on the role with little preparation and embracing her character’s commanding presence. “I was informed about Durgavati being arrogant, rich, and a strong character. I had not followed the show at all, and when I was locked for the role, I was asked to come to Chandigarh for the shoot immediately. There was no time for a proper prep, but I performed strictly as per the script and the directions given by the Director.”

Speaking about her experience bringing the stern matriarch to life, Verma expressed her love for the character’s unrefined, authoritative aesthetic, “I am really enjoying this ‘kadak’ performance. I like the raw look given to me. Bhavani Devi is the old lady who wants to hold everyone by her hook. Now, I am regularly watching all the episodes to fully understand the flavour of the show.”

The intense scenes between Indira Krishna, who plays the headstrong Durgavati, and Meenakshi Verma’s Bhavani Devi come out as a true eye-opener, shedding light on the hidden vulnerabilities and deep-rooted motives within the family. Highlighting the unique dynamic between her character and her screen daughter, she added, “Bhavani Devi is the mother of Durgavati. So if anyone has to show the mirror to Durgavati, it has to be Bhavani Devi. I don’t know what is written ahead in the script, but I strongly feel she is the one who will show her daughter the truth. There is nobody else who can handle Durgavati and give her a reality check.”
