Deepshikha Nagpal the versatile actress who was last seen in Ranju Ki Betiyaan, is thrilled to have got her first big positive role on TV. She plays the loving mother to Iqbal Khan in the Star Bharat show Na Umar Ki Seema Ho.

In a candid chat with IWMBuzz.com, Deepshika talks about her role.

Excerpts:

How exciting is it when you are offered roles in shows that are quite progressive in thought? What is your take on Na Umar Ki Seema Ho?

When you talk about progressive concepts, I am much ahead of my time. People say that I live my life very differently. So I have always supported this kind of thought. New concepts are always refreshing for the viewers. Secondly, they are new Producers. I am working for the first time with Star Bharat. So there is excitement for me around this project.

How is it to associate with an actor of the potential of Iqbal Khan?

I am very happy to be working with him. It is great to associate with him. Initially, I had this thought as to why I am playing his mother, as we are almost of the same age. Iqbal is a fantastic actor. We have associated earlier with Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani. Our chemistry as mother and son is coming out very well in the show.

Television is experimenting a lot, but viewers want to see only the tried and tested stuff. What do you have to say about it?

True, that a lot of experiments are happening. I am glad that Star Bharat has taken this experiment. I believe someone has to always take the risk. The younger woman and older man’s story is not new at all, but the way it has been projected here is very good. I am sure this love story will touch the chords of the audience.

Tell us about your role in the show.

Satyavati is an out-and-out positive character. She is very supportive of her family. But she has her own rules that she wants her family to follow. I am excited about this role, as this is not a negative one. Truly glad that the Producers and creative team had the faith in me to give me a positive role. I want to see how the audience accepts this concept.

Is there a dream role that has eluded you in your acting career?

I can’t say a dream role. But yes, I have always wanted to play a positive relationship-based character. Also happy appy that I have been given this character now on TV. I ask, why can’t people cast me in a positive role, the way I am. Finally, it is here after 25 years and I can’t express how happy I am.

What are your expectations from this show and role?

I don’t expect anything. I just go with the flow. Man proposes God disposes. So let us see how the audience accepts it. Promise to give my 100% to the role and project. I was wondering what is coming my way after such a good role in Ranju Ki Betiyaan. I am happy that this has happened to me.
