Ronit Roy is an actor par excellence who has had the burning desire in him to shine and grow as an actor on all the platforms of television, web and films. Known to many as Mihir Virani from Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Ronit has been part of the best of works on all three mediums of entertainment.

The year 2021 ended on a big note for Ronit as we saw him in a very unique role in Voot Select’s web series Candy. As he begins the New Year with positivity, there has been the big news of him getting back to television again with the lead role in Colors’ upcoming show Swaran Ghar, produced by Ravi Dubey and Sargun Mehta who have the successfully running show on Colors, Udaariyaan doing well. He was last seen in the titular role of K.D Pathak in Adaalat.

We at IWMBuzz.com got in touch with Rohit and he talked about the new show, his return to TV and on his projects lined up for the New Year.

Excerpts.

Tell us about Swaran Ghar, which will mark your return to television?

Yes, I am happy to be back on Television. This is a beautiful role, though it will be for a short stint. I know the makers Ravi and Sargun for a long time, and I am happy for them. I have always loved TV. I am glad that I got the opportunity of revisiting the TV space. This is certainly a good way of keeping in touch with the medium and with the people here.

How will you juggle with the other projects in hand now?

Well, my other commitments certainly do not allow me to take up a long-duration role in TV. This will be a short stint in the new show. I am travelling today to Chandigarh and starting my shooting process for the show. Also, it is wonderful to associate again with the partners Viacom. So there are good vibes all over for this new project.

When I was earlier approached for the same role, I could not take it up. But it so happened that my big screen projects got pushed. So when I was again approached for the same role, I could fit in the dates. It looks as though God wanted me to do this show. So I am in…

How do you see the New year with respect to work prospects?

I have a feeling that this will be a very good year for me. I have five films lined up. Shoot for Liger and Shamshera are almost done. I have Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bloody Daddy with Shahid Kapoor coming. Shehzada directed by Rohit Dhawan starring Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon is half way through. There is a little bit of shoot remaining for Gumrah, the Aditya Roy Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur film. I now start the year with the TV show.

Will we see a Season 2 coming for Candy in the near future?

Yes, there are chances for a Season 2 coming for Candy. I am looking forward to the same. Nowadays, the web concepts are worked out in a way that they have seasonal returns. So let us see how this one pans out.

Anything else with respect to new signups on the OTT platform?

Well, there are some great offers surely, but it is too early to announce anything. I am in the process of navigating them.

Best of luck, Ronit!!
