Samridh Bawa the talented young actor is effortless in his negative portrayal of Jigar in Colors’ Balika Vadhu 2. Samridh who is known for his lead roles in shows Mere Rang Mein Rangne Waali, Ek Shringaar – Swabhimaan is happy and elated to have bagged this contrast role, which is testing his calibre as a performer.

Says Samridh, “I will not deny the fact that Jigar is a very impactful character. I never thought that it would be accepted so well. I was a bit sceptical in the beginning, but the actor in me wanted to do something different. I am satisfied playing Jigar in Balika Vadhu 2. He has a lot of twists and turns. As an actor, I need to prepare a lot, for his unpredictable nature creates a lot of curiosity.”

“It is a big opportunity for me. The show, the name, the channel, production house, and doing the negative grey shaded character, there is so much to it. I did not get much time preparing for the role. The best part about playing Jigar is that every day I get to do something new. He is a very stylish and smart character. So I need to think a lot and later put that in my execution. I am glad that my team and audiences are liking my act,” he adds.

Talking about co-actors Shivangi Joshi and Randeep Rai, “They are quite friendly, supportive and cheerful people. They have an infectious smile which motivates me.”

Tell him that in his character, he is quite rude to Shivangi Joshi. Ask him how he feels when he portrays such scenes, he says, “Yes, I too feel very bad when I have to utter my dialogues. There are times when I come across as very rude in my character to both Randeep and Shivangi. I apologize to Shivangi every time I do this. She is a very supportive co-actor, and so is Randeep. They laugh when I apologize. But this is also the first time for me in such a rude-mannered role. Now all are used to it.”

Ask him about the continuous low ratings, and Samridh states, “Ratings are not in our hands. Yes, the ratings are low, but the full team is working on it. We are putting all the efforts needed to pull it up. As an actor, it does feel bad when despite all the efforts of the entire team, we are not able to pull up the ratings. Having said this, this is a big opportunity for me. So I do not think much. I don’t want my performance to get affected owing to the ratings.”

Talking about his career graph Samridh avers, “I am happy with my career graph. When I look behind, all my characters have been very different. It is an achievement of sorts. I have also gotten into a lot of genres and zones, be it comedy, action, romantic and negative roles.”

Ask him about the role that eludes him, and he is quick to say, “I want to play a mentally challenged guy in the future. I want to try it once.”

Lastly, he sends out a message to his fans. “The viewers are very supportive. I have got a lot of new fans through this show. It is very sweet of them even when I am the negative guy in the show. So a big thanks to everyone.”

Way to go, Samridh!!
