Kanwar Dhillon, who is currently winning hearts as Sachin in Star Plus’ Udne Ki Aasha, produced by Rahul Kumar Tewary and Rolling Tales Production, is set to bring a lighter and more humorous side of his popular character to viewers with Shut Up Sachin. The new segment, featuring fun snippets about Sachin, promises to add a dose of laughter to the daily episodes.
Talking about the concept and why he immediately connected with it, Kanwar says, “These humorous bits are something we really enjoy shooting, and it’s something that resonates with me in my personal life as well. I am Sachin Deshmukh, so when this concept came up, I instantly said yes to it.”
The actor reveals that the segment also gave him and the team the freedom to experiment and improvise on set. “There are a lot of snippets that we have improvised. In fact, there are a couple of them that we have shot without a script. When something comes up in our mind on set, we just go with it. So it’s really fun, and it will give the audience a dose of laughter and something that they can look forward to on JioHotstar,” he shares.
Interestingly, the idea also reminded Kanwar of a popular format from the past. “It reminded me of a show that used to come on a channel called Bakwas Band Kar, which had a lot of PJs. Similarly, here, a family member or another person would say, ‘Shut up, Sachin,’ when Sachin used to crack a joke. So it’s fun, and we are having a lot of fun shooting it,” he explains.
For Kanwar, the segment also offers viewers a chance to reconnect with Sachin’s playful personality. While the character has gone through several changes as the story has progressed, his humour and straightforward nature remain an integral part of his personality.
“Sachin is already known for his straightforward and entertaining personality. He has always had this funny, joker-like side, and I think it will be a sigh of relief for people to watch this side of Sachin again,” Kanwar says.
The actor believes the daily format of the segment could make it something viewers actively anticipate. “Every day, at the end of the episode, no matter what is going on in the story, they will get to see the fun side of Sachin. I’m sure people are going to look forward to these gags every day because they are funny and relatable. These are the little things people look forward to in their everyday lives,” he adds.
With the segment allowing him to embrace Sachin’s comic timing and spontaneous side, Kanwar is now eager to see how audiences respond. “I can’t wait to watch people’s reactions and see how they like it. We’re having a lot of fun making it, and hopefully the audience will have just as much fun watching it.”
