This World Laughter Day, Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi, who is currently seen in Colors’ reality show Laughter Chefs Unlimited Entertainment S2, says that he loves spreading happiness. He adds that good food is sure to make people happy.

“I believe that spreading happiness is important not just as an actor, but also as a chef, a person, and a family man. I try to make people happy in any way I can. For example, when I am with my family and daughters, I often do silly things just to make them laugh. Those funny moments lead to conversations, and those conversations become beautiful memories that last a lifetime. As a chef, I cook delicious food to bring smiles to people’s faces. That’s one of the ways I spread joy. I always say, ‘Spread happiness with a pinch of salt.’ Even as an actor, I try to be part of things that bring happiness to others,” he says.

He adds, “I believe laughter is very important in today’s stressful life. People living in big cities often spend a lot of time stuck in heavy traffic. It is an unfortunate situation with loud honking and long hours on the road. During that time, it is important to find moments of happiness. Maybe you are listening to the radio or your favorite music that little joy really helps. Also, spending time with family and taking time for yourself is very important. In our busy lives, we often focus too much on the outside world. But sometimes, we need to pause and look within. True happiness can come from within. Inner silence can bring peace, and even a quiet smile to your face. So, in a stressful life, it’s important to create happiness around you. And sometimes, silence plays a big role in finding that balance. It’s all about maintaining a simple balance between joy, peace, and togetherness.”

Ask him who is his biggest inspiration when it comes to comedy or making people laugh, and he says, “There are many people who inspire me. It’s hard to name just one. But honestly, I feel that the inspiration also comes from within. Even during my childhood, whenever I was with my friends, people would often say that I have a special presence. God has gifted me with a personality and nature that naturally brings joy to others. I often do funny things that make people laugh, and I feel truly blessed to have this quality. For that, I am always thankful to God.”

He adds, “Of course, there are also many legendary comedians and characters who have inspired me and brought laughter into our lives. Since childhood, I have grown up watching Johnny Lever, Keshto Mukherjee, and others who have made us laugh through their brilliant performances. Johnny Lever, even today, continues to make people laugh with his incredible talent. Then there are international legends like Charlie Chaplin, who could make you laugh without saying a word. Laurel and Hardy were also a big part of my childhood. I loved watching their movies, and they brought so much happiness into our lives. These characters and artists have played a very important role in spreading happiness, especially in today’s stressful world. I feel lucky that I got to grow up watching them and carry their influence in my life.”
