Motherhood is a beautiful phase, which most women long to experience. While mothers can be easily called the wing-woman of the entire house, they pretty much take care of the entire house. Although the new phase of motherhood can be exciting for many women, it also brings with it various sets of challenges including body image issues. Talking about the same, Taarak Mehta Ooltah Chasmash’s actor, Priya Ahuja shares her take on unrealistic expectations and pressures from the society and much more.

She says, “After delivering a baby, most women are uncomfortable with themselves. But in reality, it’s not themselves that they’re not comfortable with but the people around them. I have witnessed a lot of people body shaming their wives as they remind them of their bodies before marriage. And I think the most annoying thing I’ve noticed in Indian society is when people meet and greet, the first thing they talk about is how much you gained or lost weight- it’s always about one’s looks! I dislike people judging others based on looks”.

Furthermore, she adds how she never had any problem with gaining weight and never emphasized having a sleek body. She says, “I was always happy with the way I am and how I look. I’m very comfortable in my skin. Of course, I gained weight post-pregnancy, but I work out, but I don’t exercise to stay slim. I exercise to keep myself fit, and I just love working out in general”

On the professional front, the actor who is a part of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah for many years is now wanting to explore more challenging characters and mediums!
