Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai actress Samridhii Shukla opines that the true celebration of friendship is not a loud one, but instead, is the one that is loyal and honest. As we celebrate Friendship Day today (3 August) this year, Samridhii talks about this special bond. Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is a Star Plus show produced by Rajan Shahi’s Director’s Kut.
She says, “I don’t celebrate Friendship Day, but I think I am fortunate enough to say that I have very selective, very few, but very honest and loyal friends who genuinely want me to grow, and I want the same for them. For a long time, I had friends who brought a lot of drama, friends who pretended to care for me but didn’t, and talked behind my back. But now, it’s safe to say that I have people who truly want the best for me and cheer the loudest when I am winning.”
Even her idea of a perfect time with her friends is quite simple. She says, “I think my idea of a perfect time with friends is to have a day off and just spend time with them—either in town or out of town. Preferably out of town, in nature, because we are all city kids and we have such busy lives. But it’s so much fun to catch up, see each other, and be surrounded by nature. That’s something I prefer.”
“I don’t like talking on the phone much. I mean, it’s a way to stay in touch, but I don’t enjoy phone conversations. And I am not a party kind of person,” she states.
Samridhii rejects the common perception that it is tough to make friends in the industry; instead, she shares, “I have very good friends in the industry. I don’t know if friendship has anything to do with the industry per se, but I think it depends on the person.”
“Anywhere there’s pretentiousness or competition, or when someone doesn’t feel secure and feels threatened by another person’s presence, they just can’t become friends. But I can safely say that I have a few good friends in the industry, and I truly share a very honest and nice bond with them,” she adds.
Ask her if she is still in touch with her childhood or school friends, she says, “I am in touch with a few friends from childhood and a few from school. I think friendship is very pure, and it goes back in time.”
“It’s amazing to see how everyone’s life has actually turned out and how beautifully their journeys have unfolded. Everyone is doing so well in their careers, and it’s just so nice to see my friends grow,” Samridhii ends.
Happy Friendship Day to our readers!!
