Reena Kapoor, known for her prolific performances in shows Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki, Badii Devrani, Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki, RadhaKrishn, Ranju Ki Betiyaan, Dheere Dheere Se, etc, believes in celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi to herself. However, she has utmost clarity that one should celebrate the festival as per his/her vision, and that there is nothing right or wrong about it.

Reflecting her thoughts on regional variations in celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi, she says, “Yes, the festival is celebrated differently in different places. !! In Mumbai, it is celebrated at a very grand level. Every household, society and community has a Ganpati of their own. What you see in Mumbai and Pune, you see nowhere in India. In Delhi, Goa, etc, Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with a limited crowd. However, the feeling of Ganesh Chaturthi, the togetherness, and happiness are the same everywhere.”

Talking about the way in which she celebrates the festival, Reena talks at length, saying, “I do not make it very grand. I am an inward person, and I like to keep it very minimal. The more grand I make, the more I lose the connection with the Almighty. It is my feeling. I don’t send out invitations; I don’t want to indulge in socialising more than actually giving attention to what you should be doing. Frankly, nothing is right or wrong. Whatever makes you happy, you should be doing it. I make my own Ganpati. It does not come out very well, as I am not a professional. But I develop a deep connection when I make my own Ganpati. It is eco-friendly. I like to cook myself. Kheer and Laddoo are Bappa’s favourites that I make. I keep Ganpati for three days.”

Happy Ganesh Chaturthi to all our readers!!
