He has not only won the love of the audiences in the role of Armaan Poddar in Star Plus and Rajan Shahi’s long-running show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, but has also been extremely convincing in the role and its complexities. We have seen the love life of Armaan, his possessiveness and his guilt-stricken phase recently.
Now, the Director’s Kut show gives Rohit Purohit’s fans an opportunity to see him in a new avatar, on the stage, showing us the finesse and perfection in his efforts when it comes to dancing.
The stage is set for a classical dance performance of Armaan, Abhira and their daughter Maira in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. The pictures from the performance sequence look breathtaking, with the actors delivering their best.
We at IWMBuzz.com got a chance to talk to Rohit Purohit about this new achievement, of performing classical dance in character.
Rohit takes us through the intricate preparation for the sequence, saying, “For me, it wasn’t just about learning the dance steps. I wanted to make sure that my expressions matched Armaan’s emotions at this point in the story. I practised a lot so that every move looked natural and in sync with Abhira and Maira. We worked together in rehearsals to match our timing, expressions, and energy so that the performance would feel real and connected to the story.”
Considering the story plot, this performance of Armaan, Abhira and Maira together is a big turning point. We ask him what the audience can expect now, and he says, “This dance is more than just entertainment—it shows the hidden emotions and changing relationships between the three characters. After this, viewers will see more drama, emotional scenes, and twists that will test these relationships. The story is going to get more intense from here.”
On his memorable shoot experience for the sequence, Rohit avers, “Shooting this act was a great experience. The set looked beautiful, and the lights and costumes made it even more special. Rehearsals were also fun; we had laughs, goof-ups, and kept perfecting the steps. That comfort off-screen helped our on-screen chemistry.”
