Monika Khanna, who essays the role of the ruthless Ramkudi in Sun Neo’s Prathaon Ki Odhe Chunri: Beendani, produced by Raghuvir Shekhawat’s Natkhat Productions, is happy playing negative shades, as it gives her the scope to experiment and dig deep into the complicated nuances of the character she plays.
Ramkudi, her character in the Sun Neo show, has pushed her to the extreme when it comes to her character’s rigidity and negativity.
Says Monika, “You will laugh, you will cry, you will have a lot of fun while watching my character of Ramkudi. To sum it up, I can tell you that Ramkudi is an entertainer.”
Monika had to undertake a few preparations for the character. Talking on this, she says, “I have friends who are Marwaris. I tried to talk to their parents and understand how they talk in their general routine. I saw a few Rajasthani folk movies, which also gave me clarity. Above all, our Producer, Raghuvir Shekhawatji, has given me a solid foundation for how he wants the character of Ramkudi to be presented to the audience.”
Monika has played both positive and negative roles with elan. However, she has a soft corner for the negative ones. “Yes, I have been fortunate to play both the positive and negative characters. But if you ask me what I prefer, I will take the negative roles any day. It does not have any kind of boundaries to follow. The positive roles need to follow rigid boundaries, and one cannot appear rude in dialogue delivery. One cannot cross the boundary when playing a positive role. Negative roles are like a seed, where you understand the role as you go deeper. I prefer to get different negative roles.”
Best of luck!!
