Imran Khan, who is even today known for his portrayal of Popo in the evergreen Zee TV show Tara, is presently engaging audiences in the role of Mahesh Thakur in Zee TV‘s Jagadhatri, produced by Rahul Tewary Productions.
The recent track in the show added a new dimension to the narrative when the protagonist Shivay, played by Farman Haider, confronted Mahesh Thakur after finding out that he was his real father.
Imran plays a complex character here, who appears to be a light-hearted, loving family man in the Deshmukh family. However, when we delve deeper into his character, we get to know that he has a dark past, which he cannot accept in his present.
The confrontation sequence that aired recently between the father and son was received well. Talking about it, Imran Khan says, “The father-son track was the track that I was waiting for. That was the base of the character Mahesh Deshmukh, when they narrated the script to me.”
Talking about his past, the actor says, “He loved that woman, but sacrificed his love for the sake of his family. He did not choose his love to save his family, but also did not know that his wife was pregnant with his child. Now that the son and the father met, Shivay got a shock when he saw the father’s reaction. There is something deep hidden as to why Mahesh cannot accept his son. When Shivay threw his past on the father’s face, he blatantly lied about the woman he had so dearly loved.”
Imran speaks about his association with Farman Haider and how his co-actor made the scene easier to shoot. “This sequence had to be met with a different emotion altogether. We did our best. Farman and I have good chemistry and hold mutual respect. We finished shooting the 10-page script in a three-hour shoot. It was a total team effort that saw us sail through.”
Imran urges that a lot more is to come in the show, saying, “Shivay and Jagadhatri will be entering the Deshmukh house to look for secrets. The next 15 days are going to be crucial for the audience. Even for Mahesh, it is a shock to see them in the house.”
On what makes Jagadhatri different, Imran states, “The undercover angle that Shivay and Jagadhatri have in the show makes it interesting. They will unearth a lot of secrets in the Deshmukh house. Wait and watch.”
