Shweta Gautam, who returns to television after her power-packed stint in Colors TV’s Suman Indori, is happy that her wait for a good role has finally ended. She has entered the Rahul Tewary Production and Rolling Tales Production show on Star Plus, Udne Ki Aasha. The show has recently taken a leap of seven years and has developed a fresh story narrative.

Shweta steps into the role of Devika, a fiercely independent businesswoman who solely manages a successful chain of coaching centres—the very institute where Tejas Deshmukh (played by Puru Chibber) works as a tutor.

Opening up about her career choices post-Suman Indori and her decision to join the popular daily, Shweta Gautam shares, “After Suman Indori, I kept saying no to a lot of offers because I was waiting to do something that felt truly worthy. So when I got the opportunity to enter a show that has already been so deeply loved by the audience, it was very easy for me to say yes.”

Elaborating on her character and maternal drive in the show, she adds, “Devika is a strong businesswoman who has solely managed to run coaching centres. While she is a strong woman professionally, she is equally vulnerable when it comes to her only child, Kanika. Devika feels she has to protect Kanika from the world, and for her daughter’s happiness, she can do whatever it takes for a mother to do.”

She is grateful for the role and says, “Taking Ganpati Bappa’s name and putting all my faith in Him, I just started this journey without much preparation. I would definitely like to express my gratitude and extend a heartfelt thank you to Star Plus, Producer Rahul Tewary, creative and casting team involved.”
