Bhojpuri cinema’s leading star, Aamrapali Dubey, has entered the house of Bigg Boss 20. Fresh off her appearance in Bhojpuri Bawaal, where fans saw her real, unfiltered self, the actress is now stepping into the television reality show circuit.

What is your strategy going to be in Bigg Boss this time, especially with the new changes like ‘Tattas Two’ and ‘Jeevan Dhan’?
Honestly, I don’t have a fixed strategy. Bigg Boss is a game where you never know what will happen the next day, and with these new changes, I am sure there will be even more surprises. I just want to go inside, understand the game, and take things as they come. I will be myself because that is the only thing I know how to do.
This is your second reality show back-to-back after Bhojpuri Bawaal. What made you take up these reality shows?
I think I just wanted to try something different. Bhojpuri Bawaal was a completely new experience for me because people got to see me as Aamrapali and not as a character. They saw my emotional side, my fun side, and also the side where I get angry or upset. After that experience, when Bigg Boss came my way, I thought, why not? I wanted to challenge myself and see how I handle a completely different kind of reality show.

Do you see Bigg Boss 20 as a chance to clear the air about the personal controversies from your earlier reality show, or will you keep your private life away from the show?
I don’t want to go in with the mindset of clearing any controversy. If something comes up and I feel I need to answer, I will answer it honestly. But I also believe that everything about my personal life doesn’t need to be discussed publicly. I will speak when I feel it is right, but I will also have my boundaries.
You are one of the biggest names in Bhojpuri cinema. Coming with that kind of popularity, how do you plan to compete inside the house?
Once you enter the Bigg Boss house, I don’t think your stardom matters much. Everyone is a contestant there. Of course, I am very grateful for all the love I have received from my Bhojpuri audience, but I don’t want to enter the house thinking I am better than anyone. I want people to judge me for the person I am inside the house.
What kind of contestant behaviour is a complete deal-breaker for you? And how will you handle someone who really pushes your buttons?

I am also not someone who will stay quiet if I feel something is wrong. Bhojpuri Bawaal has already shown that side of me. But I have also learnt that reacting immediately is not always the best thing. So I will try to stay calm, but if someone crosses a line, I will definitely speak up.
What will be your main goal inside the house?
My main goal is to give my best and enjoy the journey. Of course, I want to win. Who doesn’t? But I don’t want to spend every day thinking only about the trophy. I want people to know the real Aamrapali and hopefully connect with me.
In a show where staying quiet can get you eliminated, how will you stand out without becoming unnecessarily aggressive?
I don’t think you have to fight with everyone to stand out. I have my opinions, and I am not scared to speak my mind. If I have a problem, I will say it. But I don’t want to fight just for the sake of being seen. I want to be strong without being unnecessarily aggressive.
What do you expect to take away from this Bigg Boss journey?
I just want to come out of the house having learnt something about myself. Bhojpuri Bawaal already taught me a lot, and I feel Bigg Boss will be an even bigger learning experience. There will be good days, bad days, fights, emotions, and a lot of fun. I just want to be myself through all of it. And yes, if I win the trophy, I will be extremely happy. But I would also see it as a victory for all my co-actors from the Bhojpuri industry who have been a part of Bigg Boss before me. It would feel like a proud moment for all of us and for the Bhojpuri industry.
