Zee TV’s popular fiction show, Meet, has made a special place for itself in the audience’s hearts since its premiere. Since its inception, young and talented actress Ashi Singh has been acing the role of Meet Hooda and while she has impressed one and all, the upcoming track is going to leave everyone surprised.
The well-known actress has been constantly surprising the audience by experimenting with her role and is working hard to keep her performance as real as possible. In an exclusive conversation with IWMBuzz.com, Ashi spoke about her journey in the show, challenges, best compliments, and more. Read on:
How has your journey been so far in the show?
It has been great and wonderful. Every day I take up a new challenge and try to do something different. Recently, I played the role of Manjari where I had a different accent. To jump from one accent to another was not easy. I have learnt a lot via the role of Meet. I feel it really polished my acting skills and made me a better actor. W
What is the best part about playing this character?
When I decided to become an actor, my motive was to play different roles. I want to play characters that are different from my personality. I don’t have any similarities with the character Meet. Hence, I opted for this role so that I can challenge myself. Meet is a very challenging character. Be it a fight sequence or riding a truck, I have done things that I never imagined I could do.
Your character Meet Hooda has seen some 360-degree changes as the story progressed. How challenging was that?
It was quite challenging. As a person, I really get emotionally connected to the characters I play. I try to feel all the emotions. Meet’s life is full of challenges and ups and downs. So it becomes very difficult for me to play the role with conviction. Drastically when the story takes a new turn, it becomes challenging for me to bring it to the screen within no time.
How Meet Hooda is an inspiration for girls and women?
One thing that Ashi Singh also believes is that every woman or girl should be independent in life. We should not be depending on anyone. Meet is married to a rich husband still she is independent. I believe everyone should be prepared for the worst and should know how to live alone.
You have been winning appreciation for your role. How does it feel? Share the best compliments received so far…
I have been showered with lots of love from the fans. I am very grateful to everyone. I feel happy that the makers trusted me. They believed that I could do justice to the role. I was never confident and always thought that I can never pull off this role. Thanks to makers who showed immense confidence in me. Initially, I had asked the makers ‘am I doing it right? Or anything that I should change to make the character look more real?’ They told me they were stressed about this role as it was layered. However, they further told me that only Meet Hooda’s role has come out as we thought and they will have to pull up the socks for the other roles. I was very happy with the compliment. This helped me boost my confidence.
How has your experience been working with your co-stars?
It has been a long journey while working with all my co-actors. It would be very difficult to describe in one word or a line. But still, if I have to describe it in one word then I would say it has been good.
What is the kind of genre you would want to explore as an actor?
I have worked on a great genre so far. Now, I would like to explore a role like Poo from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. I also don’t mind playing a psychopath. I have been grateful for the roles I have got in my life. I hope I keep getting such challenging roles that make me reach great heights in my career.
