Talented actress Pankhuri Awasthy, who entertained audiences in shows like Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Razia Sultan, and Suryaputra Karn, is currently charming fans as a cop named Artificial Intelligence Officer, Mira in Sony Sab show Maddam Sir. In conversation with IWMBuzz.com, the actress revealed about her role, challenges and more.
How does it feel to portray the role of a cop?
I think it was a very different experience for me in many ways. I have never played a cop so that was different and also donning the uniform gives you a different sense of pride. It is starkly different from the kind of characters I have portrayed on television before. I have portrayed characters that were larger than life. I had to be dressed in a certain way in heavy costumes, jewelry, and accessories for such characters. Mira’s look is comfortable, easy, and breezy.
What were the challenges that you faced while getting into the skin of the character?
It is fascinating to watch how the machine fits seamlessly into the Mahila Police Thana. I was very nervous. This character looks exciting but was difficult. It talks in a very human way; however, its body language is stiff and straight. For the character, I had to learn policing strategies and protocols.
How has your experience been working with the cast of Maddam Sir?
The experience of shooting with the cast has been excellent. They are very helpful, supportive and we are getting to know each other. We share a great bonding and have a fantastic time shooting for the show. The energy on the set is so lively and positive, and I’m happy to have gotten such an excellent opportunity of working with such a great team. We enjoy portraying our characters and promise to deliver some remarkable work.
If given a chance in real life, if you become a cop for a day, what is the one change you would like to bring to society at large?
I would want the city to be safe for women, children.

I would like to thank them for continuously showering me with their immense love and support. I can promise that ASI Mira in Maddam Sir will be a roller-coaster ride with new dimensions and dynamics adding up and amplifying the entertainment quotient of the show.
