For actress Jahnvi Soni, who is all set to play the lead role of Saanvi in Star Plus’ upcoming show Sayoneee, this year’s celebrations carry a special sense of gratitude as a long-cherished dream turns into reality.
Reflecting on the divine timing of her show launching around Ganesh Chaturthi, Jahnvi shares her overwhelming joy about landing a lead role with a major network. “There could never be a better feeling than having our show come during the auspicious time of Ganesh Chaturthi. It was my absolute dream to play a lead girl on a big network. Everything happened so fast—I had no time to even process the happiness. I did my mock test in a hurry, signed the contract, and shot for the promo immediately. It truly feels like magic in my life. I have surrendered completely to God, thanking Him for this opportunity and dedicating myself to it with sincere efforts.”
Coming from a joint family in Jaipur, Rajasthan, Jahnvi draws a sharp contrast between her personal upbringing and the emotional landscape of her character, Saanvi, who yearns for family warmth. “Saanvi longs to feel what it is like to have a family. Coming from a tight-knit joint family in Jaipur, where I am surrounded by my parents and Dadi’s love, I often wonder how orphans navigate life without parental guidance. Having a close friend who grew up without her mother helped me tap into those deep emotional layers. Playing Saanvi is challenging, but it makes me feel even more blessed and overwhelmed with gratitude for my own life.”
While Ganesh Chaturthi in Jaipur meant one day of quiet celebrations and laddoos, Jahnvi’s two years in Mumbai have deepened her connection with Bappa and the city’s vibrant festive spirit. “In Jaipur, we usually host Ganpati for one day with simple prayers and sweets, but in Mumbai, the love for Bappa is on a completely different level. Here, Bappa feels like a child in the home. I remember shooting during Ganesh Chaturthi for my earlier show—doing aarti thrice a day, singing bhajans, and feeling an undeniable positivity on set where work happened seamlessly.”
Sharing screen space with seasoned actress Rashami Desai in Sayoneee has been an enriching experience for her, making her feel right at home despite being new to the industry. “I was naturally nervous during my look test, but meeting Rashami Ma’am changed everything. She never made me feel like I was new to the industry. We talk about almost every topic under the sun on set!”
Jahnvi has moved to Chandigarh, Punjab, for the show along with the cast and crew. “We are setting up our place of stay and shooting too. Rashami Ma’am and I have talked about hosting Bappa and celebrating the festival. Let’s see how we plan it.”
