Actor Kanwar Dhillon, who is currently seen as Sachin in Star Plus and Rahul Kumar Tewary’s Udne Ki Aasha, shares his Dhanteras plans, festive shopping preferences and fondest memories of celebrating festivals on set.
Talking about his dream purchase this Dhanteras, Kanwar says, “If money and practicality had no bar, the one luxury item I would like to buy this Dhanteras would be a luxury car. The cars I love aren’t very practical for our city. If practicality weren’t a factor, I would happily spend the money and buy a super luxury vehicle for myself. It has been long overdue, but the practical side of me stops me from making that purchase.”
The actor prefers shopping in traditional markets, especially for valuable purchases. “I am someone who likes going to the market and shopping amidst all the chaos. I am also someone who enjoys grocery shopping, so that gives you an idea of the kind of person I am and the things I like. Gold and other expensive items are usually bought from trusted dealers and shops, and that is what we do as well. We have been buying from certain shops for many years. When it comes to festive shopping online, it is mostly clothes, accessories, etc. Expensive items such as gold and electronics are things I prefer to personally go and look at before buying,” he shares.
If he could gift his on-screen character Sachin something special this Dhanteras, Kanwar would choose a gold Ganpati idol. “A token of good luck and prosperity that I would like to give Sachin this Dhanteras would probably be a Ganpati idol made of gold. He could keep it with himself as a symbol of good luck, prosperity and success. Of course, since it would be a gold Ganpati, he cannot keep it in his taxi! He would have to keep it somewhere safe at home so that nobody steals it,” he says with a laugh.
Recalling his favourite festive memories, Kanwar looks back at his time on the sets of Pandya Store and Udne Ki Aasha. “The most memorable Dhanteras and Diwali celebrations I have had on set were definitely during Pandya Store. We had a blast celebrating every occasion on that set, and everything was beautifully shot. We had a lot of fun while working on the show. Apart from that, all the celebrations I have been part of on the Udne Ki Aasha set have also been very memorable. The entire team feels like a family, and every occasion has a certain warmth attached to it. So, all the Diwali and Dhanteras celebrations I have spent on the sets of Udne Ki Aasha and Pandya Store remain my favourites,” Kanwar concludes.
