Krishna Bharadwaj duly calls the channel Sony SAB the ‘Mai Baap’ channel, as he has been working solely for the channel since 2013. After his classic portrayal in Tenali Rama, Krishna is now back on the channel in a dual-personality avatar in Hui Gumm Yaadein, produced by Sobo Films. Krishna prepared for the role in a short time, in which he essays the role of Sattu, who has two personalities, that of the husband and wife.
In a candid conversation with IWMBuzz.com, Krishna speaks about the new challenge and about his homecoming to Sony SAB.
Talking about the role, Krishna says, “Sattu has two personalities in him, with both husband and wife, which is interesting in itself. There is not much time for prep in daily soaps. It just starts happening all of a sudden, and you go with the flow. It is challenging, but I am playing it as authentically as I can. I always look for challenging roles that are different from what is happening on TV, so I’m glad that I got this opportunity.”
Talking about his long-standing association with Sony SAB, he says, “It is a homecoming for me to get back to Sony SAB. It has been 10 years, and I have been working only for Sony SAB. I took up Tenali Rama in 2017, but before that, I had done RK Laxman Ki Duniya in 2013. So it is like family. It is a mutual give-and-take with Sony SAB. It has become the Mai-Baap channel for me; it is the channel where male-oriented characters are written so well.”
Ask him what drew him to Sattu, and he says, “Sattu is psychotic, and that was interesting. It requires a lot of your personal experience to pull off such a character. You have to show a lot of emotions in one scene and a few dialogues, which is a task. Otherwise, it is fun playing him.”
Speaking about his co-actors, he says, “Everyone on the set is welcoming. Gulki is a friend. Iqbal is a great co-actor, a humble and nice human being. A lot of new actors are there. It is a fresh energy on the set.”
On what is in the pipeline, he says, “Right now, I am not doing much on TV. I have two Gujarati films in the pipeline. One is scheduled to be shot in June. The other is a new-age film that will be shot in the USA.”
