Actor Krushal Ahuja, known for his performances in shows like Rishton Ka Manjha, Jhanak, Binddii and Taara, has always been candid about his personal choices. As Ganesh Chaturthi brings Mumbai alive with celebrations, the actor admitted that he is not someone who is deeply involved in festivals, but he does enjoy being part of the celebrations when invited by friends and loved ones.
“I don’t want to be really fake about this. I am not into festivals. I mean, of course, I respect Ganesh Chaturthi, but I am not into it. If somebody is calling me, inviting me, I go there, and I attend the festival. But that’s it. There’s no other emotion,” Krushal shared.
While Mumbai is known for celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi with the same grandeur and enthusiasm as Diwali, Krushal said his personal connection with festivals remains limited. He explained that his spiritual inclination lies elsewhere. “I’m a Mahadev Bhakt, if that is the thing. And that also I’ve been introduced to this starting this year. Other than that, I’m not so into it.”
The actor also spoke about the changing nature of festivals and how celebrations have increasingly become more visible on social media. According to him, while there are instances where festivities can become driven by content and viewership, there are still many people who celebrate with genuine emotion and devotion. “Yeah, things are definitely getting commercialised and maybe for the content and less of emotions, more of viewership. But it’s not everywhere. There are a lot of groups and people who are doing it genuinely,” Krushal said.
He added that it can sometimes be difficult to understand the intention behind someone’s celebration. “So it depends on person to person. People do it genuinely also; people do it for content also. So now we can’t differentiate who’s doing what,” he explained.
For Krushal, there is no need to pretend to have a deep emotional connection with something simply because it is widely celebrated. Instead, he prefers appreciating the happiness around him in his own way. “But if you ask me, I am not so much into the festivals. I like people celebrating, and I enjoy it from a distance,” he concluded.
