Rajat Verma, who has been part of shows like Beyhadh 2, Dahej Daasi, Ishq Par Zor Nahi and Jamuniya, says that laughter has therapeutic value for him. He adds that it helps bring joy to your life and others.
“For me, laughter is healing. It is one of the most powerful connections you can create with an audience. As an actor, when you see someone genuinely laughing because of something you did on screen, it feels like a gift. We all carry our own stresses, so if I can be that reason for someone’s smile even for a minute it feels really meaningful. It reminds me why I do what I do to bring joy, relief, and a bit of lightness into people’s lives,” he says.
He adds, “In the middle of this fast-paced life, where everyone is juggling deadlines, expectations, and pressures, laughter is like a reset button. It keeps you humane. We often take life too seriously. But I believe laughter is what keeps us sane. It’s a reminder to not lose touch with the joy in simple things. One moment of laughter can change the energy of a whole day.”
Ask him who is his biggest inspiration when it comes to making others laugh, and he says, “For me, it’s my friends who are also creators Mayank Mishra, Harsh Beniwal, Purav Jha, Gaurav Arora. They have this natural timing and physicality that just can’t be taught—it comes from within. Their ability to bring humour into any situation, while still staying rooted in the character, is something I really admire. The magic of making people laugh, while keeping it real is the quality i try to learn from them.”
Sharing one piece of advice that he would give someone who wants to spread joy in the world, he says, “Honestly, don’t wait for the ‘perfect moment’ to be happy. Life isn’t always going to go as planned. Find joy in the mess, laugh at your own mistakes, and don’t take yourself too seriously. Sometimes, just being around people who make you feel light can change everything. Laughter is contagious it can change the entire environment around you.”
