Although queer couples have gone a long way, there is still a lack of representation in television and films. Thankfully, the film/show industry has progressed past their crude portrayal as a punch line in recent years, and they now receive the center stage and respect they deserve.

Mitch and Cam, Raymond and Kevin, Toni and Cheryl are just a few of the popular western television couples that have captured our hearts. Only a few LGBTQ relationship representations have been done correctly here in the United States. Cheryl, the red-lipstick-wearing Queen-B of Riverdale High! Toni was the serpent gang’s rebel, with her pink hair, leather jacket, and moto-bike look.

We can’t be friends if you don’t find Kevin and Raymond amusing and adorable. It’s almost too sweet to handle two powerful, very macho personalities romancing each other in monosyllables. Rue and Jules started together as friends, yet there was an unmistakable bond between them from the start.

Rue and Jules are both oddballs, and Jules practically assists Rue in fully embracing her other side. Let’s just say that these two have managed to steal the show’s spotlight from every other couple. My favorite scene from the show is still Alec leaving his soon-to-be bride at the altar for Magnus.

Their smoldering chemistry is almost too hot to manage, and their appealing equation as individuals is what distinguishes them.
