Tell us about the journey you have had so far with Mangal Lakshmi and Lakshmi Ka Safar?

As you know, this is my first show. I never knew what a set looks like, when I began. Mangal Lakshmi is a Delhi-based concept. We started with an outdoor in Delhi. I was nervous on the first day. Frankly, television is a great platform for any actor to learn. Every day is a new challenge when it comes to any character, and I am learning with every experience.

Coming to Lakshmi Ka Safar, I am grateful for the love the audience has shown towards Mangal and Lakshmi. That explains the split in the show. Both characters are so powerful and doing so well. It is amazing to live the life of Lakshmi.

How does it feel to see two of the shows doing well at the same time?

I am very happy that both of the sisters are doing well and leading the charts. I hope this continues, as both stories have a huge fan following.

How have you liked the graph that Lakshmi has had in the show? Which has been your favourite phase?

There has been a lot of progress in Lakshmi’s graph. The challenges in her life never seem to end. Her union with Kartik is what viewers want to see. Whenever there is a happy phase, the story takes a new turn. When I began my journey as Lakshmi, I was clueless about what to do. But I feel I have improved as a performer. I don’t want to praise myself, but I can feel my growth. I want to thank my Director Sir, for shaping every character in the show day in and day out.

Coming to my favourite phase, I will say that I loved playing Radha a lot. She has a lot of connect with Sanika. She was bubbly and fun to play, very much like what Sanika is. Writers gave great punches to Radha, and it was fun giving life to that character.

When will we see Kartik and Lakshmi coming together?

I don’t know. People like Kartik and Lakshmi so much and that is going to be an interesting phase. I guess the writers and makers will take time to get them together. That is Lakshmi’s struggle. As you know, she is an orphan and has been raised by her sister. Now that the shows have been separated, her life revolves only around Kartik. She has to face many challenges to get together with Kartik again. That is when there will be a reunion.

My first show being a success is a blessing: Sanika Amit on Mangal Lakshmi - Lakshmi Ka Safar 952659

What kind of roles attract you?

I want to play different characters. This first show has allowed me to prove my versatility as a performer. As I said, Radha was so different when compared to Lakshmi. She was a fun girl, comic in her own way. She had her own ways of handling things. I have played a man multiple times in the show. I have donned roles of a truck driver, pandit, chai wala etc. I think all these aspects help me shape my thinking for the character I play. My sensitivity as Sanika helps me perform as per the requirement.

I want to experiment with varied roles. Specifically speaking, Kaira from Dear Zindagi is someone that I relate to as a film character. There are a lot of attributes in her that relate to Sanika. I would love to play such a role.

How does it feel to be called Lakshmi with your first show being a success?

First show being a success is a blessing. I would thank the Universe. This was a manifestation that came true. I strongly believe in it, and things have shaped beautifully in my life. I thank my dad who has been a constant supporter in every step of my life.

Being called Lakshmi is fun. There have been places where I get recognised as Lakshmi. Every day’s hard work is being recognised and that is a great feeling to have.

What are your takeaways so far from Lakshmi?

She is a very patient person when it comes to love and when it comes to her own people. There are a few qualities that Sanika and Lakshmi have in common, like empathy, understanding and sensitivity. However, I am learning the value of patience from Lakshmi. The fact that you have to stand up for yourself and talk when it is required is what I am learning from her.
