Never give up on life: TV actor Pankit Thakker on failed marriage, suicide attempt and finally bouncing back

Pankit Thakker talks about his show Aapki Nazron Ne Samjha, separation with wife Prachi and more

Pankit Thakker, the talented actor, who has previously worked in shows like Kabhii Sautan Kabhii Sahelii and Dill Mill Gayye, has carved a niche for himself in the industry. Currently, the actor is seen as Chetan Rawal in Star Plus popular show Aapki Nazron Ne Samjha produced by Full House Media.

In an exclusive conversation with IWMBuzz.com, Pankit spoke about his character graph, journey, co-star, personal life ups and downs, divorce and more… Read on:

How has the journey been with the show so far?

It has been excellent. I am thankful to the producers for offering me this role. The show has an amazing concept. My character has been written really well. In television, the content is the king and if you get an opportunity to play a beautifully written character then it is like a cherry on the cake. My role is the bridge between the elder and younger generations. It is also easy to get accepted by the fans. I am extremely happy with the response that I am getting from my fans and viewers.

What are your expectations from the show?

I don’t have any expectations for me but for the producers of the show. They are amazing people. I want this show to flourish and should bring good fortune to my producers.

How has your experience been working with your co-stars?

It has been good. All my co-stars are humble and very down-to-earth people. No one has starry tantrums. We all have lunch together and also help each other whenever needed. During the pandemic, we were shooting outdoors, so we bonded really well. Not only actors, but the crew members are also like one big family.

What is the biggest lesson that this industry has taught you over the years?

I have heard people saying that they want to do some particular roles and stick to a particular genre but I believe TV has become fluid with time. When your character is written beautifully then it will surely touch the audience’s hearts. And if you work with a good team, then you have a trust that they won’t let you down. One should have a very cordial relationship on set with the cast and the crew.

What has been the most challenging phase in your life so far?

There have been many, actually. When I was 14 years old, my mom passed away and I was lost. Then when I was 19, I met my partner Prachi, who became my wife, and finally I found a person who cared for me. It was a love marriage and has been my longest relationship. Then when that failed, I was completely devastated. The most challenging phase was to rebuild my life all again after the separation.

Tell us about your weight transformation journey…

It was the relationship stress because of which I had put on weight. Because of stress, you don’t look after yourself and the same happened with me. Soon, I realized it was important to get back in shape as our profession demands the same. I got separated and the negative mindset changed into a positive and eventually, I lost oodles of weight.

Any final message for fans…

I would like to mention that ups and downs are part and parcel of life. Nowadays, people give up easily. In the pandemic, last year, we saw and read about many actors committing suicide. I was also trapped in a similar situation when I was going through separation with my wife. During that phase, in the year 2015, even I tried committing suicide but I was not able to do it. I was thinking about my wife, family, and friends. I am a God-fearing person. So I realized the mistake. Hence, now, I just want to tell everyone to not give up on life.
