Friendship Day is a celebration of the bonds that anchor us, keep us grounded, and uplift us through every season of life. In an industry as fast-paced and competitive as entertainment, finding connections built on pure authenticity can be rare. Opening up on what true bond means to her this Friendship Day, Garvita Sadhwani—who plays Rajji in Colors TV’s Mahadev & Sons—shares her thoughts on her oldest confidantes, her criteria for trusting people, and why real friendship leaves no room for insecurity.
She talks about her oldest anchor. “There is a childhood friend of mine—she’s been a friend since before I became an actor. She will always be that one friend who really doesn’t care who I am in the spotlight. She is super proud of me, and she’s my moral compass.”
Garvita talks about taking time to judge a person’s genuine character. “I think I take time; I never make friends very quickly. I take time to judge and observe people. I judge how they behave in times of distress, not when everything is good—that’s when true genuineness can really be measured.”
She speaks about her core industry inner circle, her besties Sayli Salunkhe and Abhindya Bhave. “Sayli Salunkhe and Abhidnya Bhave are two good friends I would love to hang out with anytime. We’ve been friends since our days working on Baatein Kuch Ankahee Si, and we’ve built a solid girls’ gang. Our friendship isn’t industry-driven—it’s very genuine and based purely on love.”
Speaking about the factor of insecurity stepping in, especially when friends are from the same industry, auditioning for the same role, she says, “When a friendship is genuine, there’s nothing to ‘maintain’ even when you’re competing in the same space. Sayli and I are in the same age bracket; we often test for the same roles, but we are never insecure about each other—we only hype each other up!”
