Actor Parichay Sharma’s return to television could not have been better, as the show he entered became the No 1 show soon after he set foot on the sets. Yes, we are talking about the Zee TV show Vasudha, produced by Arvind Babbal Productions.
Parichay, who has featured in shows like Balika Vadhu, Sadda Haq, etc., is playing a layered character, that of Samar Sisodia, a close friend of Dev. However, he is not anything like Dev when it comes to his behaviour and ideologies. This actually gives rise to a clash between the two characters – Dev (Abhishek Sharrma) and Samar.
Says Parichay, “Samar Sisodia is a rich brat, rude and egoistic. But he is not bad at heart. He is very flat on the face and is not a people pleaser at all. He does not believe in any culture.”
Samar has entered with the good intention of helping his friend, Dev, who is in need of finance to tackle the evil ploys of Karishma. Also, the character has locked horns with Vasudha from its very first meeting.
Talking about his varying equations with Dev and Vasudha, Parichay explains, “Of course, he has come to help his friend Dev. But Samar often gets misunderstood by people who are culturally bound. He genuinely wants to help Dev, but is in for a rude shock when he gets to know that Dev has married a maid. Also, he cannot accept the fact that Dev could keep his very life in line for his family.”
“With Vasudha, Samar will have his own conflicts. There is going to be a controlled, aggressive fight between them,” he adds.
Further, talking about his complex role in the show, Parichay states, “I always like to do roles that have substance. Samar is walking on a very thin line. The brief given to me was that his dialogues will be negative, he will be a rich, aggressive brat, but should not look negative. He should be full of life and good at heart. This brief indeed makes playing him tougher. I have a lot of scope as Samar is layered.”
Speaking about the concept on a broader level, he says, “It is the fight of two ideologies – heart and mind. Some people are practical, who value family over their business. You will also find straightforward people. There is a clash between them.”
“I feel blessed to make a comeback with a show like Vasudha, which is the No 1 show. The cast is superb. I have never seen such welcoming people. Priya is superb; we spoke a lot. Abhishek is a gem of a person and is welcoming. The moment I stepped on the set, people called me ‘lucky’ as Vasudha became the No 1 show. I am happy to be working on the show,” he says about the right timing of his entry.
Lastly, on his expectations, he avers, “I look forward to great writing for this role. I am happy to play this layered role. I want the character to be loved, and just not hated for what he seems to be. My fingers are crossed.”
Best of luck!!
