Actor Ankur Bharddwaj, who is currently seen as parallel lead Nakul Maheshwari in the Dangal TV show Mann Sundar, produced by Panorama Entertainment, believes that the true meaning of Independence Day goes beyond simply singing patriotic songs or putting up social media posts for a day.
Talking about what the occasion means to him, Ankur says, “Nowadays people just sing songs for one day and put up posts, but in my opinion, the real meaning of Independence Day should be to follow all the rules of our country, respect other people and work to help our country grow. The more growth there is for India, the cleaner and more visible it will be, and that is what will actually make it meaningful.”
The actor feels that patriotism should be reflected in everyday actions rather than being limited to one particular day. He adds, “We should keep working, not just for one day for show. Every day we should work for our India. We should follow all the rules that have been made and pay our taxes properly so that our country becomes even more beautiful.”
When asked about his favourite freedom fighter, Ankur names Bhagat Singh and remembers the sacrifice he made for the country. “My favourite freedom fighter is Bhagat Singh ji because even though his life was very short, his spirit and passion were very great. He sacrificed his life for our country, and that can never be forgotten,” he says.
Ankur also believes that people should never take the freedom they enjoy today for granted. “I would just like to say that we should not take our freedom for granted because the freedom we feel and live today exists because of the sacrifices of so many people. We should respect one another. To move our country forward, we should follow all these things every day. This is all our responsibility,” he says.
He also has a message about how people treat the national flag after Independence Day celebrations. “If you buy a flag for even one day just to feel that sense of freedom, take care of it properly the next day too. It should not end up in the garbage,” Ankur concludes.
