Actress Adrija Roy, who is currently winning hearts as Raahi in Star Plus and Rajan Shahi’s Anupamaa, recently shared one of the most memorable fan experiences she has had since joining the popular television show. The actress revealed how a simple interaction at a café made her realise the deep emotional connection viewers have formed with her character.
Recalling the heartwarming incident, Adrija said, “One of my most memorable fan moments happened recently after people started connecting with my character Raahi. I was at a café, just sitting quietly, when a girl came up to me and said, ‘Aap Raahi ho na?'”
What made the moment particularly special for the actress was the emotion behind the fan’s words. “The way she said it was so emotional, almost like she truly knew the character personally. She told me that she relates to Raahi a lot and sees a part of her own life in that journey, and that really stayed with me,” Adrija shared.
The actress explained that the interaction went beyond mere recognition and reflected the impact Raahi’s story has had on audiences. “It wasn’t just about recognising me as Adrija, it was about connecting with Raahi, and as an actor, that feeling is incredibly special because it means people are not just watching your performance, they are emotionally living the character with you. That moment felt very real and personal to me,” she said.
Speaking about how fan culture has evolved over the years, Adrija said, “Talking about fan culture today, I do feel things have changed a lot. Earlier, people used to ask for autographs, but now it’s mostly selfies and short videos. Honestly, I find it quite sweet because fans want to capture a memory with you that they can keep forever,” she said.
The actress also revealed that the popularity of her character has reached a point where many fans identify her as Raahi before recognising her as Adrija. “After Raahi, I’ve noticed that many people call me by her name first and then ask for a selfie, which feels really heartwarming,” she shared.
While she appreciates the nostalgia associated with autographs, Adrija believes today’s fan interactions feel more personal and engaging. “Of course, autographs had a very classic and simple charm of their own, but I enjoy this new culture too because it feels more interactive and genuine. At the end of the day, what matters most is the love people give you, and that connection will always be the most special part of it all,” she concluded.
