Vasudha actor Pratiksha Rai feels that kindness is often mistaken for weakness. Having experienced it personally, she believes that people usually take advantage of the ones who are kind, helpful, and supportive.
Speaking on the occasion of World Kindness Day, which is observed on November 13, she said, “There are many people who take you for granted when you are a giver. I have experienced it personally. I have helped a lot of people financially and emotionally, and when you ask for what’s rightfully yours or even expect a little honesty in return, suddenly you become the villain.”
“It’s strange. You can do 99 good things for someone, but the moment you say no once, that’s what they will remember,” she added.
She feels that people often think soft-hearted individuals are fools or easy to manipulate. She said, “They mistake kindness for weakness, which is so wrong. But I have learned that true kindness doesn’t mean being naïve. It means having a good heart while also knowing where to draw boundaries.”
For Pratiksha, kindness not only means being kind to humans but also to animals. She said, “I believe feeding animals and taking care of them should be a basic habit, not an act of charity. They can’t speak for themselves or ask for food.”
Recalling an act of kindness, she shared, “When my father suddenly got paralysed on the road during the COVID period, everyone was scared to even touch each other. But there was one person, I don’t know who he was, who stepped forward to help. He lifted my father, arranged a vehicle, and called us to inform us that someone was lying unconscious on the road. That act wasn’t small for me. It was everything.”
