Urvashi Upadhyay, who plays the role of Kusum Saxena in Colors TV’s Mangal Lakshmi, produced by Panorama Entertainment, has been a strong personality, a one-of-a-kind mother-in-law, who has always supported her daughter-in-law, Mangal (Deepika Singh), over her erring son Adit (Naman Shaw). While she stood as a pillar of support for Mangal’s remarriage with Kapil (Kapil Nirmal), the recent episodes have shown a major twist, with Kusum asking Mangal to give her son another chance.
We at IWMBuzz.com talked to Urvashi about the changing mindset of Kusum in the show, and to know whether her decisions are justified.
Urvashi told us, “Kusum is a practical woman who handles situations very wisely. When she got Mangal married to Adit, she knew that she was getting a gem of a person as Adit’s wife. She gave Mangal all the love and respect in her family and house. But when she got to know about Adit and Saumya’s relationship, she got angry with her own son. She tried to make amends and tried to get Mangal and Adit closer, and created moments for them to unite.”
Adding more on Kusum’s mentality, Urvashi stated, “Kusum never sees a glass as half empty. She has been a lady with all positivity. When she got to understand that Mangal is getting all the love and respect from Kapil, she wanted Mangal to marry him and get all the happiness in life. She listened to all the taunts when people around humiliated her for trying to get Mangal remarried.”
I feel Mangal will be in less danger if she gets back with Adit.
Talking about the shocking turnaround now, Urvashi stated, “When she saw Bua Dadi and her old and conservative thoughts, Kusum wondered whether she was sending Mangal into the wrong family. She also saw Adit’s changed attitude towards Mangal. She also saw Mangal being drawn to help Adit when he was in danger. Having seen Adit and Mangal as a power couple, coming together to face problems in their family, now Kusum wants to give their relationship another chance.”
When asked about her personal choice of decision for Mangal, Urvashi states, “Personally, I feel we need to make decisions based on the situations we are in. Life is unpredictable. Adit has become a very good man, with a changed mind. Kapil seems very good, but you never know what will happen in future. So I feel it is always better to walk the path which is already known. I feel Mangal will be in less danger if she gets back with Adit. But there are a lot of possibilities in the wedding track. If Urvashi gets to answer in place of Kusum, I will say that Mangal needs to give another chance to Adit (smiles).”
Lastly, we asked her if Kusum was justified in her act, and she said, “Kusum is justified in her thoughts as she has always been wise in her decisions. As I said, it is always better to walk through the known path rather than take a new path. Let us see what happens next!!”
