The series opens with Krishna devotee Shridama reaching the former’s celestial home along with Narada and getting upset at noticing that he has to recite Krishna’s beloved Radha’s name first for entry. The latter intellectually try to prove that his devotion is higher than the love which is nothing but an illusion, but eventually realizes that true love supersedes everything. While doing so he ends up cursing Radha that she will spend 100 years outside their celestial Dham. And more important here is the love between Radha-Krishna is not physical but much deeper and platonic. No wonder when Krishna merely calls out her name, she hears.
Although Shridama is very repentant at his action, he comes to understand that all this was part of the cosmic play as it was time for Krishna to make his entry in the mortal world.
It is one of the best mythological serials ever made. The show has stuck to its tag line,” jag Karta hai prem Pane Ke Liye in hone Kiya prem samjha one Ke Liye”. The show is more focused on the aspects of love which is new and is not like any other shows of Lord Krishna. This show attempts to explore Love as the highest form of spirituality through the beautiful journey of Radha-Krishna and it never matters whether Radha-Krishna’s tale is a myth coz “Love, in the end, is the ultimate Truth”.
Though it’s the love story Radha and Krishna not everyone could’ve done proper justice to this role like Sumedh and Mallika. They make the show what it is… amazing.
