Actor Bharat Narang, who is currently seen as Maddy in Zee TV‘s romantic family drama Dilon Ki Ram Leela, produced by Cockrow and Shaika Entertainment, is enjoying exploring a darker shade on screen. The show stars Aastha Sharma as Leela and Mishkat Varma as Ram in the lead roles, and also features actors Eijaz Khan, Mansi Salvi, Nainaa Guupta, Soma Rathod and Ashlesha Savant in pivotal roles.

Bharat, who plays a wealthy and arrogant spoilt brat in the show, opened up about his role in a recent conversation.

Talking about his character, the actor said, “I am playing the character of Maddy in Dilon Ki Ram Leela, and it is quite different from anything I have played before, which is what excited me about it in the first place. Maddy is a spoiled and pampered young man who has been brought up with a lot of freedom, especially by his aunt. Because he has always got whatever he wanted, he has developed a very strong sense of entitlement. He believes the world revolves around him and that he can get away with anything. That upbringing has deeply influenced his mindset, his behaviour, and the way he looks at relationships.”

He further added, “One of the most striking aspects of his personality is that he doesn’t really respect women. He is egoistic, impulsive, and often speaks or acts without thinking about the consequences. He feels superior and doesn’t like being questioned or corrected. For him, respect is not something that comes naturally; it is something he feels he deserves without having to give it back.”

The actor shared that Maddy is not a one-dimensional character and has many layers to explore. “There are many shades and layers to Maddy. On the outside, he appears confident, charming, and carefree, but inside there is a lot of insecurity and emotional confusion that stems from his upbringing. He has never been taught boundaries, and that is why he struggles when life doesn’t go his way. As an actor, this role gives me a lot of scope to explore. It is challenging because I have to justify his actions while also showing his vulnerabilities. I have had to work on his body language, his attitude, and the way he talks to people to make him look authentic. I hope the audience will see his journey and understand why he is the way he is,” he concluded.

On the professional front, Bharat has previously featured in shows like Satyaa Sachee, Jaane Anjaane Hum Mile, Dahej Daasi and Mann Atisundar.
