Pooja Gor, who was last seen on TV as a lead a while back in medical drama, Ek Nayi Ummeed – Roshni, will return in a cop avatar in Sony’s as yet untitled limited cop series.

“It is an ensemble cast, consisting of Imran Javed, Yudhishter Singh and Rashmi Mahajan, besides me. We play members of an anti-terrorism squad.”

“Those who follow my career will know that I have always attempted to push the envelope. No wonder I played a doctor in the above Life OK show,” says this girl, who began her career with Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya. Her other shows have included Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi, V The Serial, etc.

“We are shooting for the new Sony show right now. It is a different experience playing a cop. We had to get their body language and mannerisms right. The creative made us meet special operation guys to understand how they work. We had to learn how to fire guns, and the hierarchy and power structure of the ATS. My respect for law enforcement agencies has gone up manifold, having understood how difficult their job is.”

This Salman Khan co-production had been in the works for a while now. It was first mooted in 2018 as part of Sony sub-brand, SET Originals. But unfortunately, the latter’s first presentation, Prithvi Vallabh – Itihaas Bhi, Rahasya Bhi, starring Ashish Sharma and Sonarika Bhadouria, did not bring in huge numbers.

Pooja accepted the delay, “But we are now finishing shooting. As for channel and TRP, I really don’t bother about these things as they are well above my pay grade.”

“Also, let’s face it, we always do a project expecting success. Having said that, if it does not do well, so be it. I don’t lose sleep over it.”

Pooja, who has done an interesting role in the supernatural film, Kedarnath, is hopeful of doing more cine projects. “The above story was a challenge, for the ghost element was obviously added in post, so had to imagine everything.”

“Luckily, today the chasm between TV and films is reducing. I don’t subscribe to the notion that small screen actors lose sheen due to factory output. Rather, we are able to achieve much more in a short period of time. B Town directors are zapped at our ability to master huge audition dialogues in a jiffy.”

For the moment, she is busy doing a web series. After impressing one and all in Shitty Ideas Trending (SIT), she is now playing a journalist in new Alt Balaji series, State VS Nanavati.
