Nidhi Shetty is seen as Prerna in the Star Plus show, Anupamaa, produced by Deepa Shahi and Rajan Shahi’s Shahi Productions Pvt Ltd. Her character has seen it all: loneliness, heartbreak, and disappointment. But now, as Prerna gets engaged to Ansh, she is looking forward to how this new journey unfolds for her character.
She said, “It’s a beautiful story. I wouldn’t want to reveal too much about what’s coming next, but what makes it special is that neither of them was actively looking for love. Both Prerna and Ansh had a void in their lives, and they found comfort in each other’s company. That comfort slowly turned into friendship, and before they realised it, friendship blossomed into love. It’s a very organic and heartfelt journey that I think audiences will really enjoy watching.”
She is also hopeful that Prerna and Ansh’s relationship will fix her relationship with Anupamaa. She said, “Prerna has always longed for a mother’s love, and in Anupamaa, she finally finds that warmth and support. Of course, every love story comes with its own challenges, and there may be resistance from certain family members, especially in the beginning. But that’s what makes the journey interesting and relatable.”
A love story only works if the people playing it are comfortable with each other, and she admits that it came naturally. She said, “Varun is amazing to work with. We keep joking around on set all the time, which makes the atmosphere very comfortable. Even during romantic scenes, things feel easy because we’ve built that comfort level and trust as co-actors.”
“He’s extremely hardworking and dedicated to his craft. We have a great give-and-take during scenes, and the way he performs often helps me elevate my own performance as well. It’s always wonderful working with someone who’s so present and committed,” she added.
Prerna’s relationship with family is complicated by the fact that she grew up without one, and that shapes every choice she makes. “For Prerna, family has always been very important because it’s something she has longed for all her life. Having grown up without experiencing a complete family’s love and support, she values relationships deeply and never wants to hurt the people she cares about,” Nidhi ended.
