Pallavi Mukherjee represents the modern Indian woman, who is equally comfortable in bold and traditional roles; no wonder she will be seen in two different avatars. First, as a modern school girl in ALTBalaji web series, Class of 2020 and a 1920 traditional Bengali girl in new Colors show, Barrister Babu (Shashi Sumeet Mittal).

Says Pallavi, “I have always been a TV girl. I have done tube shows in Bengal and even Jhansi Ki Rani (Colors). I tried web series, wanting to do something different.”

Talking about her character in Barrister Babu she says, “Chandan is a sweet, traditional, pre-independence Bengali girl. It was a challenge to wear all those saris all the time. For the first time it was tough, but then later, I got used to it.”

“Chandan loves her lead character sister Badoni (Aura Bhatnagar), while our on-screen parents are the villains.”

The show talks about child marriage and women empowerment. “I am very proud to be part of shows espousing social changes on the lines of Balika Vadhu.”

“The biggest difference between web and TV is that in the former, you get to play contrasting characters in a short period, while in the latter, you have to believe that you are the character.”

“For the moment since I am doing TV, I don’t think I can do web at least now.”

Being a Bengali, Pallavi is also working on her Hindi (following scripts is not too much of an issue). “I am enjoying on set as most of the other cast, including my on-screen mom is also Bong.”

In closing, she says, “Do watch out for more episodes of Class of 2020 as my character will open up soon.”

Best of luck, Pallavi!!
