Actor Kanwar Dhillon, who plays the lead role of Sachin in Star Plus’ Udne Ki Aasha, opened up about the deeper meaning of Ram Navami, sharing how the festival continues to shape his personal beliefs, values, and approach to life.

“Ram Navami is a very special and peaceful festival for me. It is not just about celebrating a day, but about reminding myself of the values that Lord Ram stood for,” Kanwar said. “His life teaches us about truth, patience, respect, and doing the right thing even when it is difficult. In our busy lives, we often forget these basics, so this day helps me slow down, reflect, and reconnect with those thoughts.”

Recalling his childhood, the actor shared that the festival has always held a warm and spiritual place in his heart. “Yes, I have very warm memories from my childhood. Ram Navami at home was always calm and spiritual. We would have a small puja with family, and elders would share stories from the Ramayana. As a child, I may not have understood everything deeply, but I remember feeling a sense of peace and togetherness. Those simple traditions have stayed with me and still mean a lot,” he said.

Speaking about what inspires him the most about Lord Ram, Kanwar highlighted the importance of duty and balance. “The one quality that truly inspires me is his strong sense of duty. No matter how tough the situation was, Lord Ram always stayed calm and chose the path of dharma. He never let emotions take over his responsibilities. I think in today’s world, staying balanced like that is not easy. As an actor, there are ups and downs, but I try to stay focused and grounded, just like that.”

Kanwar also expressed his interest in being part of a larger retelling of the epic. “Yes, definitely. It would be a huge honour for me. Being part of a story like the Ramayana is not just another role. It comes with a lot of responsibility because people are emotionally connected to it. After playing Lord Ram in a sequence in Udne Ki Aasha, I realised how deeply audiences feel about the character. Some even called me a ‘handsome Ram’, which was very sweet and overwhelming at the same time. I would love to explore it again with more depth and give it my honest effort.”

Sharing a life lesson that he carries with him, the actor concluded, “One life lesson that has stayed with me is to always choose what is right instead of what is easy. Sometimes the right path is longer and more difficult, but in the end, it gives you peace. I try to follow this in my personal life as well as in my work.”
