What prompted you to take up this show?

The amazing storyline and great role drew my attention. It is a dream role for any actor and I am fortunate to have been playing it on-screen. Ranjan Chittoda is a multidimensional, layered and complex role.

How did you prepare for the role?

I underwent extreme preparation for the role. It is the most physically and mentally challenging project of my career so far. I was very thin hence had to gain 10 kgs of weight in a span of 15-20 days. I also had to prepare mentally to play a cop. My father was an IPS officer before becoming an IAS officer. He had undergone the IPS training during his younger days so I had discussions with him and throughout my life, I have met a lot of officers so I understand the nuances of an IPS officer. Also being a father played an important role here as I have two children in real life. In this show, Ranjan is a father and is very close to his son and my life had prepared me for this aspect, so it has really helped me.

Is there any similarity between your character and you?

There are many similarities, the first and foremost is that Ranjan is obsessed with his work and I am too in my real life. His family and personal life have suffered because of his obsession with work, so has mine over the years. And rest are my imaginations to make the character look real on-screen.

Any challenges you faced while playing the part?

The biggest challenge that I faced was physical preparation. There was a lot of action involved and I love doing it too but during the initial days of shooting, I got hurt for the first time in my career while doing an action sequence. I did the shoot with a knee cap but it was really difficult because of the injury.

How has your experience been working with your co-stars?

It has been lovely as they are a great bunch of talent. They all are experienced and talented stars who have been working in the industry for quite some time now. I really enjoy working with this team.

Finally, message to your fans…

My fans have been very loyal to me. I have tried my best to entertain them over the years. I owe my fans a lot but acting is a difficult job and they have motivated me. With Rudrakaal, we are entering the golden phase as after this show I am being offered other good projects. I am very excited about my future work.
