Singing sensation Sanchari Sengupta, a unique singer, who has won everyone’s heart with her opera style of singing, has released the music video for her latest single, “Naina Morey”. It is a thumri which was composed by Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan. Sanchari recreated the soulful song for her loyal fans and audiences.
Talking about the thought behind the song, Sanchari said, “As we all know, the song was composed by Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan. And it is my favourite song since childhood. One day, I decided to recreate the song for the present generation. The reason behind doing so was to fill in the generation gap so that it can give a new approach to the song. After the release of the song, fans are showering praises. They are mentioning how the song fills in the generation gap which I personally love. Fans are also liking my saree look in the song. The presentation of the song is highly praised by all.”
She further continued, “The song was always ready with me but the video wasn’t. I did the video shoot recently hence there was a delay in releasing the song. I shot the entire video in North Kolkata. Not many know but Bengal artists are very talented. They create amazing wall paintings which are loved by locals and tourists. I purposely shot the video behind those painted walls to give the perfect feel to the song.”
When asked what was the most difficult part while shooting the video, Sanchari mentioned, “The most difficult part of shooting the video was to not smile in every shot. The song is about a lover, who is waiting for her husband to come home. So, she is upset and misses him while singing the song. I was not allowed to smile on the set. I had to control my smile from being captured in the video.”
On an end note, she added, “I just want to tell my fans to listen to the song and shower love on the same. Like you all have loved me in Indian Idol, do support me in my future work too. I am working on some great projects hence need love and blessing from all.”
For the unaware, Sanchari was a participant in Sony Entertainment Television’s prestigious singing reality show, Indian Idol – Season 13.
