Rishi Khurana is enjoying playing a rascal type character in Star Bharat show, Nimki Mukhiya. “I have so thoroughly imbibed Rituraj, that my co-stars jokingly quip that I am an effortless performer abounding with negative qualities. There is no limit that my character will not cross.”

“Right now, we are shooting a scene where Rituraj tries to rape someone.” Here, Rishi being a gentleman, says that before doing any scene that requires crossing the physical line, be it with a man (slapping) or woman, “I always tell the co-star that this is how I plan to approach the scene, and go ahead only if they are comfortable enough. This due diligence has become even more important in the wake of the raging #MeToo controversy.”

Rishi, who has done positive characters before (Saas Bina Sasural and Chhoti Bahu), does not really find them challenging enough. “Negative roles, on the other hand, offer many more colours. That does not mean I will totally avoid positive roles. It’s just that I dig extreme edges.” His other shows have included Bani – Ishq Da Kalma, Laut Aao Trisha, Badalte Rishton Ki Dastaan, etc.

Does your innate good self feel a bit bad when you become bad on screen? “No, for we are not justifying the evil acts. And last but not the least, only if bad is shown to be losing, can truth emerge triumphant, right? As an actor, I like nasty on-screen avatars, which allow me to do stuff totally opposite to my real-life persona.”
