Actress Vaishali Arora, who portrays the vibrant character Riya Deshmukh in the popular Star Plus series Udne Ki Aasha, is thoroughly enjoying her experience on the show. Produced by Rahul Tewary and Rolling Tales Production, Udne Ki Aasha captivates audiences by depicting the authentic and relatable challenges faced by a middle-class family in their everyday lives. In this ensemble, Riya is a distinctive figure, hailing from a more affluent background, which sets her apart from the other characters. Vaishali’s exceptional talent and dedication to her craft have earned her widespread acclaim, solidifying her status as a rising talent in the industry.

Completing a year of Udne Ki Aasha feels surreal because we are so immersed in our characters and the show’s world.

We at IWMBuzz.com get into an exclusive conversation with Vaishali over her journey with the show, on her character and more.

Akash and Riya’s love story and lifestyle connect more with today’s youth. Tell us about it.

I think Akash and Riya’s love story is one of the most loved ones because it represents love in today’s time—it erases class differences and is all about true love. Riya comes from a wealthy and independent family, while Akash isn’t as well-off. Their first meeting wasn’t great; they fought, but eventually, they became friends, which is how most love stories begin. When Riya realised she loved Akash, she didn’t care whether their families got along or not. She knew that her father was Akash’s father’s boss, but it didn’t matter to her. That’s what the audience loved the most—their love is youthful, and I admire how Akash always listens to Riya without letting his ego get in the way.

How is it to be a part of a show like Udne Ki Aasha?

The whole one-year journey has been a special experience. None of us even realised how quickly time passed because we love what we do. There’s no pressure—we look forward to coming to the set every day, and hopefully, we will complete many more years together.

Sailee and Sachin are grounded, whereas Riya and Akash are vibrant and full of life. These contrasts show different dynamics of love and relationships, making the show relatable for everyone.

Tell us about your thoughts on its one-year run.

It’s been an incredible journey. Completing a year feels surreal because we are so immersed in our characters and the show’s world. The bond we share as a team makes the experience even more fulfilling, and we hope to celebrate many more milestones.

Your character is a complete contrast to what Sailee is. Explain the vision the makers had.

Sailee is someone who listens to everyone, takes care of household chores, and fits into the traditional “good bahu” role. On the other hand, Riya had a very different upbringing—she’s a slightly spoiled brat but has a strong sense of right and wrong. She takes a stand for Sailee, something Sailee was missing in her family. This contrast makes the story interesting. While Sailee sometimes listens to things that aren’t right, Riya doesn’t—she speaks up. This reflects the modern-day perspective of women, showing that it’s not always necessary to be submissive; sometimes, you need to call out what’s wrong.

Udne Ki Aasha presents two different worlds through the stories of Sachin-Sailee and Akash-Riya. Explain.

Sachin takes the lead in his relationship, whereas Riya takes the lead in hers. Sailee supports Sachin in everything, while in Riya and Akash’s relationship, Akash is the one who backs her up. A relationship works only when there is balance. Sailee and Sachin are grounded, whereas Riya and Akash are vibrant and full of life. These contrasts show different dynamics of love and relationships, making the show relatable for everyone.

What are your favourite pastimes?

Dancing is my favourite pastime. I also enjoy working out, though I am not always regular, I try to make time for my physical well-being.

Who do you gel with the best on the set of the show?

I gel with everyone on set! I have a great time with Baba, Sailee, and Roshni—we are like a trio of girls who always have fun together. When we are shooting scenes, we genuinely want each other’s performances to shine, which makes working together even more enjoyable.

What can viewers expect from your role now?

Viewers can expect the same youthful, fresh perspective that Riya brings. She will continue to stand up for what’s right and add energy and vibrance to the story.
