I have always heard good things about Shabir. Now that I am working with him, I can genuinely say that he is one of the easiest actors to work with.

You look supremely fresh in the new look of Kairi Sharma. How has the response been so far?

It has been good as I was doing my work sincerely. I had not seen any scene after it was shot. I was also waiting to watch the show before the launch. With the response coming in now, I can see that many people are in love with Kairi Sharma. I personally am in love with Kairi. It has been a great journey so far.

How is it to work with a star like Shabir Ahluwalia? What was your reaction like when you got to know that he is your onscreen lead?

I was excited when I heard of it. I have always watched his work. I never thought I would ever get to work with him. When I got to know that Shabir was Yug and I was paired opposite him, I had a good feeling. I have always heard good things about him. Now that I am working with him, I can genuinely say that he is one of the easiest actors to work with. He is one of the most fun people I have worked with. The experience is great. I know for sure in my head that he is a big star. But he never makes me or anyone else on the set feel that he is that big. He is cool and nice as a person.

Describe Kairi in your own words. What do you think is her best attribute? Is there a Kairi in you?

Kairi is like her name, sweet and sour. She is emotional, responsible, and sensitive. She is someone who will help people, know to value relationships. She never will stand against anything wrong. The best thing about her is that she never regrets the fact that she takes care of her siblings even though they are not her family. She wants to be there for them. This goodness in her is what I like. Also, whenever things go wrong, Kairi has a smile on her face and faces it. This is one aspect where I feel I am relatable to Kairi.

I like watching and doing the slice-of-life roles. I love it when things are not too dramatic.

The show is filled with nok-jhok. What is the set like when it is filled with the Sharma and Sinha siblings?

Yes, the fights and faceoffs between the Sharmas and Sinhas are what makes the show interesting. But in real life, when we are on set, we enjoy time together. We talk a lot, we play games when we are not shooting. It is fun to be around with the cast.

What is the USP of the show according to you?

The USP is the freshness. When you see the TV shows that are on air these days, more or less they are kind of similar in storylines. The freshness in Ufff… Yeh Love Hai Mushkil is that it is filled with kids. We don’t have a Saas yet. This makes our show very different, fresh and new.

Are you a Director’s actor? Or do you like going with the flow?

I like going with the flow. But I am completely a director’s actor. Whenever I watch my performance and see myself on screen, I never like my performance. I always feel I can do better, but I am never satisfied. So for someone like me, I like to believe in my Director. If he says it is a perfect shot, I believe it. Otherwise, I am not going to move on from one scene to the next (smiles).

You have tried many genres of work. Which is the genre you are most comfortable in?

I like watching and doing the slice-of-life roles. I love it when things are not too dramatic. I am more comfortable doing such stuff. I am not comfortable doing too much drama, maybe OTT.

What do you have to tell your fans?

I always tell them that I love them. They always praise me, love me and create a huge hype even before I am on air. They give me all the courage and motivation.
