Rakhi Vijan who is part of SAB TV’s show gets into a conversation.

Rakhi Vijan is enjoying her stint in the SAB TV show Sajan Re Phir Jhoot Mat Bolo (Optimystix).

Says Rakhi, “I have great tuning with the Producers, Hemant Kevani and Vipul D Shah; we go back years.”

Talking about its concept, she says, “All characters had said one lie, which results in a never-ending cascade of falsehoods. My character of Monica Malpani has been well-received, along with her one-liners. The writing team and the production unit are too good.”

Here Rakhi, who first gained name and fame with Hum Paanch, has no qualms in admitting that she has been typecast as the dumb blonde, with her hair and look (Sweety). “It is ok, for I love this genre that brings a smile to your face.”

She had tried drama (a cameo in Madhubala – Ek Ishq Ek Junoo) and negative (Meri Durga), which did not really go anywhere.

Talking about comedy then and now, she says, “Although content per se has regressed, still even now, any show which has connected with the masses always works.”

“Among the recent shows, I really enjoyed watching Comedy Nights with Kapil. The latter’s teaming with Sunil Grover was too good. I was really disappointed when it went off air. The quality was always above the mark. They had no scripts and worked only on improvisations.”

Her other comic capers, over the years, have included Professor Pyarelal and Hum Paanch Phir Se.

Rakhi, who has also produced super-hit Sony show, Heena, in which she had acted as well, says, “One reason why I could not reach the zenith was that I kept taking breaks. Having wanderlust, my folks and I take off for vacations to all corners of the world. Having said that, tell me which other female TV star has given more than one hit. Most girls disappear after one outing. I have two in my kitty, one as actor and the other as maker.”

Point out that maybe the cult success of Hum Paanch was due to the fact that there were few channels back then, and she says, “No, most of the bigger channels i.e. Sony, Zee, DD, SAB existed back then as well. We also had Sahara, which has now gone off air. These are just excuses by the industry to defend their lack of success. After a few forgettable projects, I am back with Sajan Re Phir. May be, tomorrow I might net one more hit.”

Well said, Rakhi!!
