Actor Tanisha Mehta, who stars as Vrinda in Star Plus and Balaji Telefilms’ drama Kyunki Rishton Ke Bhi Roop Badalte Hain, talked exclusively to IWMBuzz.com about leading the show, connecting with her character, and what lies ahead for viewers as the storyline evolves.
Taking on a key role in a show connected to such a storied franchise like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi comes with both responsibility and creative excitement. Speaking about leading the narrative, Tanisha expressed, “It’s an incredible honour. Being part of a show with such an iconic legacy comes with a sense of responsibility, but at the same time, we’re creating something that speaks to today’s audience. I think the beauty of this new chapter is that it respects the emotions and values people loved while introducing fresh characters and perspectives. Being part of that journey is truly special.”
Vrinda’s strong-willed yet grounded nature is a quality Tanisha deeply identifies with in her personal life. She highlights the balance between independence and values, “I relate to Vrinda in many ways. She’s confident, independent, and isn’t afraid to stand up for what she believes in. At the same time, she values relationships and family, which is something I connect with deeply. While we’re different in some aspects, I think her strength and resilience are qualities I genuinely admire.”
Stepping into Vrinda’s shoes—alongside her past acting experiences—has also served as a tool for personal growth off-screen. She says, “Every role teaches you something different. Playing Vrinda has reminded me to trust my instincts and be emotionally honest. Over the years, every character has helped me discover myself better, whether it’s becoming more patient, empathetic, or confident. Acting constantly pushes you to grow, not just professionally but personally as well.”
Working on a daily drama demands adaptability and quick emotional connection under high-pressure schedules. On delivering powerful performances on tight deadlines, Tanisha shared, “Preparation is everything. Daily soaps move at a very fast pace, so you learn to stay focused, adapt quickly, and trust your instincts. I’ve also realised that being present in the moment is more important than striving for perfection. When you’re emotionally connected to the scene, it naturally translates on screen.”
Reflecting on how her perception of success in the television industry has shifted over time, she noted, “When I started, success meant getting good projects and recognition. Today, I see it very differently. Success is consistency, growth, and being able to do work that I’m genuinely proud of. It’s about earning the trust of audiences, continuing to learn, and enjoying the process rather than constantly chasing the next milestone.”
Tanisha credits the warmth and support of her co-stars for making the fast-paced shoot schedule feel natural. “It’s been a wonderful experience. Everyone is incredibly supportive, warm, and passionate about their work. We spend so much time together that the set really starts to feel like a second home. That comfort and camaraderie reflect on screen and make every day enjoyable.”
