Excerpts:

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been a blessed show. Tell us about its long run and your journey with it.

Taarak Mehta has been a blessing in my life. I always say that. Not even professionally, but on a personal level too as I met my husband Malav in the show. It has been 13 years of association with the show. I remember the first day of the audition; I actually auditioned for another character in the show. But Asit Bhai told me that I was young for the character I auditioned. But after a few days, I got a call for Rita Reporter and destiny got me into the show. I have worked in many roles. But the fame I have got for Rita Reporter is outstanding.

The show gave you your personal highs too with marriage. Tell us about that.

Malav Rajda is not only my husband but is also my best friend. We don’t have any double standards in our relationship. My journey with Malav has been really beautiful. It’s been 10 years of marriage. We recently got remarried and relived the sweet moments. We have a son who is two years old. Malav is such a beautiful dad.

What do you think has been the continued connect of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah with the audience?

The day to day issues that come in the life of the common man, gets tackled on Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. This I feel, is the main connect that the show has with the audience. Every artist has the knack of presenting these issues onscreen and deriving solutions with great simplicity.

Tell us about your takeaways from your role in the show?

I have learnt a lot from many actors from the show. Dilip Bhai, if you take him, he works with the same level of sincerity even today when compared to the times when he started doing the show. In fact, this can be said for the entire team of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. From my character of Rita, I have learnt to speak really fast. In fact, even in real life, I speak as fast as Rita speaks.

How easy or tough is it to juggle between home, family and kid and work?

It is not really tough to juggle between work and family. I have a super-supportive family. It will be very stereotypical if I start praising my husband. I feel so relieved that Malav is always there for me and my son.
