Navratri is one of the most awaited festivals of the year, bringing people together through devotion, music, dance and celebrations. For actor Rohit Purohit, who is known for playing Armaan Poddar in Star Plus and Rajan Shahi’s Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, the festival is a time to enjoy the festive spirit and remember the values associated with it.
Talking about what Navratri means to him, Rohit says, “Navratri is a beautiful festival that brings a lot of positivity and happiness. It is a time when people come together, celebrate, pray and seek the blessings of Goddess Durga. I feel festivals like these keep us connected to our culture and traditions, which is very important.”
Navratri celebrations are incomplete without music and Garba. While work commitments can sometimes make it difficult for actors to celebrate festivals the way they did growing up, the festive atmosphere still brings a different kind of excitement. Sharing his thoughts on the celebrations, Rohit says, “The energy during Navratri is amazing. The music, the colourful outfits and the enthusiasm of people make the festival special. Even if you cannot celebrate all nine days because of work, you can still feel the festive spirit around you.”
Talking about his plans for Navratri, Rohit says, “This time, we will celebrate Navratri on the sets of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. Since we spend so much time together while shooting, the entire team becomes like a family. Celebrating festivals together makes the bond even stronger. Even when we are busy with our work, we try to take out some time to enjoy these occasions.”
“Our Navratri sequence on the show is itself so grand, and shooting for such sequences allows us to enjoy the festival to the fullest while acting. The set has a different kind of energy during these celebrations, and when you are dressed up and performing to the festive music, you naturally get into the mood. It feels like celebrating Navratri while doing what we love. These sequences are also fun because the entire team comes together, and we get to enjoy the festive atmosphere even while working.”
The festival also carries a deeper message of the victory of good over evil. Speaking about how he relates to this thought in his personal life, the actor says, “I believe the biggest battle is often within ourselves. We all have fears, doubts and challenges, but it is important to stay positive and keep doing the right thing. For me, the message of Navratri is about having faith, being strong and not allowing negativity to take over.”
As an actor, Rohit has a busy schedule, but festivals offer an opportunity to spend time with loved ones and take a break from the usual routine. Talking about the importance of celebrating festivals with family, he adds, “No matter how busy life gets, festivals give us a chance to slow down and spend time with our loved ones. These moments are precious because they help us recharge and remind us of the people and things that truly matter.”
