As the festive season illuminates homes with twinkling lights and hopeful prayers, Dhanteras ushers in the promise of prosperity and new beginnings. Actress Yukti Kapoor of Maddam Sir fame feels that the festival is a heartfelt celebration of hard-earned milestones, personal growth, and the warmth of loved ones. In a candid chat, Yukti shares her festive dreams, shopping habits, and how she finds family even while working away from home.
For Yukti, material purchases during the festive season carry a much deeper emotional resonance than just the thrill of shopping. “Anything I buy with my hard-earned money feels special because it reminds me of my journey and how far I’ve come.”
When it comes to festive investments and big dreams, the actress has her heart set on a very special personal milestone that many can relate to. “I would love to buy my dream luxury home. I would love to make it beautiful and create my own little world in it.”
Festive shopping is an integral part of Dhanteras, and Yukti finds herself enjoying the best of both worlds when hunting for festive outfits and decor. “I buy clothes, festive wear from the Indian market, but online shopping is also very convenient. I usually like buying something traditional – festive outfits and little things to decorate my home.”
While Dhanteras is traditionally about praying for wealth and material gains, Yukti reminds us that true prosperity extends far beyond bank balances and possessions. When asked what she would truly wish for herself on this auspicious day, she emphasises health and inner peace.
“I would gift myself peace of mind, good health & wealth. Of course, material things make us happy, but I feel the real prosperity is when you’re healthy, and your family is happy. And I would wish for more beautiful opportunities in my career.”
Celebrating festivals while shooting continuous daily soaps isn’t always easy, but Yukti cherishes how television crews transform into a second family during the festive season. “When you’re working away from home, your co-stars and crew become like a second family – festive atmosphere, everyone dressing up, lots of sweets, decorating the set, and taking pictures between shots. Even when we have hectic schedules, we try to make those little moments special. I’ve celebrated Diwali in almost all my shows, with different situations according to the story of the show.”
