Actor Nasirr Khan, who plays Jhende in the Zee TV show Tumm Se Tumm Tak, produced by Studio LSD, recently opened up about his experience observing Ramadan while balancing a demanding shooting schedule.
Speaking about what makes the holy month special to him, the actor shared, “My favourite part of this holy month is the transformation that fasting brings to your body, mind, and soul. It makes you realise how strong you truly are and pushes you to go further. It keeps you healthy, grounded, and helps break the monotony of life. It refreshes and resets your entire being.”
Despite the physical demands of his profession, Nasirr revealed that his daily routine remains largely unchanged during Ramadan. “I wake up for sehri, go for my shoot, work throughout the day, break my fast at iftar, and then head home to rest,” he said. He also highlighted the sense of unity on set. “At iftar time, the entire unit comes together, irrespective of religion or whether one is fasting or not, and we all break our fast together. That’s the beauty of Ramadan and our industry. We are all one.”
Talking about Eid celebrations, the actor expressed his fondness for the warmth and human connection the festival brings. “It’s the get-togethers, greeting everyone with hugs, something we don’t do often anymore. That’s what I look forward to the most,” he shared.
Addressing the challenges of fasting while working as an actor, Nasirr dismissed the idea that it is particularly difficult. “Nothing is challenging about it. Fasting is not an extreme activity. It’s just a routine you follow every day. Even otherwise, actors attend events, sleep late, wake up early, and continue working. So it’s not very different,” he explained.
Reflecting on the spiritual aspect of the month, he emphasised the importance of giving and humility. “Ramadan makes you go out of your way to do things you wouldn’t do every day, like giving zakat and helping others quietly, without showing it. That’s what truly connects you to your faith,” Nasirr concluded.
