Abhishek Sharrma, who plays the dashing Devansh Singh Chauhan in Zee TV’s Vasudha, produced by Arvind Babbal Productions, talks exclusively with IWMBuzz.com on the occasion of Valentine’s Day, wherein he speaks about the important qualities he would want in his partner, the significance of the day and more.

How do you define a successful relationship, and what do you think is its important element?

For me, a successful relationship is about two people growing individually, but moving forward together. It is about feeling emotionally safe, respected and understood even on difficult days. The most important element for me is honest communication. When both can talk openly without fear, ego or judgement, most problems can be navigated with maturity.

What are the three qualities you would want your ideal partner to have?

Firstly, emotional intelligence, the ability to understand feelings and respond with empathy. The second is groundedness, which is very important amid chaos. And the third is individuality. I deeply admire people who have their own opinions, dreams and identity, rather than losing themselves in a relationship.

What would be a perfect day with your partner?

I am a very simple guy. I would like to start the day with breakfast and chai, which I will make. I would love to go shopping. I would love to go on a bike ride with my partner, go as far as the mountains, go to the cafe and chill and talk. I like watching a movie too, and probably travel a lot.

If you have the option to know one thing about your prospective partner, what will it be?

I think if I want to know one thing, it would be how they handle conflict and how they react in hostile situations, react in anger, etc. This will tell a lot about their emotional maturity and long-term compatibility.

What is the significance of Valentine’s Day?

It is a reminder to celebrate love in all its forms – romantic, family and friends and whoever it may be. It is about expressing love. Though the day is commercialised, its real value lies in pausing and appreciating people who bring warmth and love into our lives.

What are your plans?

It would be to spend time with my loved ones and appreciate the love they have put in. My work will also be my Valentine.
